Man Utd already inflicted a blow on Manchester City’s title race ambitions at Old Trafford last week and Michael Carrick’s men capitalised on their momentum.

Arsenal took the lead against Man Utd in the first half after a huge deflection from Lisandro Martinez saw the ball turn past a helpless Senne Lammens at the Emirates.

However, United bounced back from their setback in the 37th minute after Bryan Mbeumo netted an equaliser thanks to a major howler from Martin Zubimendi.

Bruno Fernandes perfectly set the ball into the path of an in-form Patrick Dorgu, who netted for the second consecutive Premier League match under Michael Carrick.

Man Utd interim head coach Carrick has preferred to use wing-back Dorgu as his left-wing option against Manchester City and Arsenal ahead of Matheus Cunha.

Owen Hargreaves was full of high praise for the 21-year-old Denmark international and the impact that he had for United against Arsenal on Sunday evening.

“The strike is so pure,” he said, as per the Premier League’s official website.

“Sometimes, on that volley, it just needs to sit up to you… What a finish, he’s absolutely on fire at the moment. It’s amazing.”

Michael Owen’s stance on Matheus Cunha speaks volumes after the Man Utd star’s second-half cameo vs Arsenal

Dorgu might have started ahead of Matheus Cunha for the second match running, but the latter was the final difference-maker at the Emirates at the weekend.

Carrick brought Matheus Cunha on in the second half for Bryan Mbeumo and the 26-year-old former Wolves ace scored a stunning effort against the Gunners.

Mikel Merino had cancelled out Dorgu’s strike late in the second half before Kobbie Mainoo assisted Cunha for a sensational long-range winner in the 87th minute.

Michael Owen highlighted that Cunha’s “unbelievable” trait was on full display for United fans with his long-range finishing against Arsenal in the 3-2 result.

“I watched him drift in from the left-hand side,” he said.

“As soon as he touched it, I thought: this is where he comes alive. He’s unbelievable from outside the box – long-range shots.”
