Manchester United unveiled a special tribute to The Stone Roses legend Mani during their game against Arsenal.
The dearly loved bass player passed away last year, sparking a wave of tributes from fans. An effervescent figure in British music, Mani was the beating heart of The Stone Roses, playing on both studio albums before departing for a decade-long stint with Primal Scream.
Sadly passing away at the end of 2025, Mani’s loss was dearly felt. A life-long Manchester United fan, famous players such as Gary Neville attended his funeral alongside tributes from Ian Brown, Bobby Gillespie, and others.
Manchester United fans showed their respect with banners at games, with the club now unveiling a special Stone Roses themed tracksuit top.
Eagle-eyed fans spotted the players warming up in London before their game against Arsenal, with the club then sharing the images on social media:
The club wrote: “Forever United. This afternoon, we will pay tribute to the late, great Mani.”
Bands FC called it “an amazing tribute” –
Rowetta said: “True Working Hero who never forgot where he came from & always supported & empathised with us naturally gifted OG punks.”
Over on the Clash Facebook page, fans gave the design the thumbs up. Dave Ronan called it “a touch of class” while Chris Parkinson added: “I feel so bad for liking anything with that badge on but it’s absolutely brilliant.”
Perhaps a little of Mani’s spirit rubbed off on the players – Manchester United defeated Arsenal 3-2.
The tracksuit top will seemingly be available to buy in the coming weeks.
