West Ham United midfielder Soungoutou Magassa has been linked with a move to Galatasaray over the past week.
The Super Lig club are keen to sign a central midfielder before the transfer deadline and have been looking at a number of players.
At the start of the transfer window, Galatasaray were linked with Manchester United’s Manuel Ugarte, but with the recent managerial change a move now looks unlikely.
His club teammate Kobbie Mainoo was also on Cimbom’s wish list due to his situation under Ruben Amorim. The England midfielder’s situation has changed since the arrival of Michael Carrick and he’s started the last two league games.
Subsequently, the Super Lig leaders have switched their attention to Magassa, and they will make another attempt to sign him.
Last week there were reports West Ham had rejected Galatasaray’s initial offer for the youngster.
Loan considered for West Ham midfielder
However, Gala haven’t been deterred in their pursuit for the Frenchman and Fotospor report they want to sign him this week.
The Istanbul giants are considering loaning the West Ham player, with an option to purchase. There are no reports if the Hammers would be prepared to sell at this stage of the window.
Magassa’s West Ham teammate Tomáš Souček has also been tracked by Galatasaray in the past week. There Czech Republic could leave the east London club, but this is likely to happen during the summer transfer window.
Magassa signed for West Ham in August for an undisclosed fee. He his debut against Tottenham Hotspur, coming on as a second half substitute.
The 22-year-old has gone on to make eight appearances for the East London club this season, scoring one goal. However, he wasn’t involved in Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Sunderland, staying an unused substitute.
He’s contracted to the Premier League club until June 2031.
