Italian giants Juventus have renewed their interest in Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee, who is yet to feature under Michael Carrick. The Dutchman has long-term admirers in Serie A, with Roma previously keen on signing him early in the January transfer window.
But a move fell by the wayside following the decision to sack Ruben Amorim and the appointment of Carrick. The current United boss held talks with the Dutchman to convince him that his future lay at Old Trafford.
That saw Roma move onto alternative targets, having signed Donyell Malen from Aston Villa, as well as Robinio Vaz from Marseille. And while a move to the Italian capital might not come to fruition for Zirkzee, rivals Juventus could be an option.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Turin side have been left frustrated in their attempts to sign Fenerbahce forward Youssef En-Nesyri and have now resumed talks with United regarding Zirkzee.
“The situation is pretty clear,” sporting director Giorgio Chiellini said about Juventus’ failure to sign En-Nesyri. “We went to speak to the player, he expressed a few doubts on the formula of the transfer, so for us right now the negotiations are over. We cannot and do not want to buy him outright.
“We’ll see over the next few days if there are any developments or other opportunities, but for us it is over.”
Zirkzee joined Man United from Bologna in 2024 but he has scored just nine goals in 65 appearances since. He has been ruled out of Michael Carrick’s first two games through injury.

Man United star Matheus Cunha has been among those to urge Zirkzee to stay at Old Trafford. He said: "Josh is a pleasure. I feel like he has a lot of quality. Of course, his situation is not easy, but he has everything to change the situation. We need him. He needs to understand this and then everyone can count on him.
"But yeah, we are here to push him. And I think after the goal last week and the assist today, I think it will give him confidence to be more with us and then understand more his role in the team."
Zirkzee is not the only Premier League star that Juventus are looking at. Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is also a target for the Italian giants before next week’s deadline.
