Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot has insisted he will continue to give everything for the club and not play the victim following the Reds' 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Dalot once again started at full-back for United as Michael Carrick stuck with the 4-2-3-1 system.
After an even start it was the Gunners who took the lead as Lisandro Martinez inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. Less than 10 minutes later, United were back level as Bryan Mbeumo capitalised on a poor back pass to round David Raya and equalise.
With the scores level at the break, United hit the front through Patrick Dorgu's incredible strike which crashed in via the crossbar. Just six minutes of normal time were remaining when it looked as though Carrick's side would have to settle for the point as Mikel Merino squeezed the ball over the line after a scramble in the United area.
But up stepped substitute Matheus Cunha to win the game with three minutes of normal time remaining as the Reds moved up to fourth. It has been a mixed season for United with the players and former head coach Ruben Amorim coming under fire for their performances.
However, speaking to MUTV at full time, Dalot insisted he would continue doing his best as United chase Champions League qualification for next season.
"You have to come to Carrington every single day trying to give your best to match the standards that the club should have," he said.
"And then what we do on the pitch will be a consequence of what we do every day. Sometimes it might work, sometimes it might not work.
"But you can see that when everything is tuned in, when everybody has the same energy, when we all want the same thing, we can win it. And I really believe in that."
Dalot went on to add: "I always try to give that message to everybody. Being here for a long time gives me even more responsibility in these moments. And that’s the biggest thing for me.
"As long as I wear this shirt, I will not hide myself, I will not play the victim.
"We just have to come to the pitch, give everything for the club and all together we can have moments like this and hopefully we can start a very good run of games."
