Agent in Milan–Manchester United outcast could be set for brilliant transfer

Manchester United supporters may have moved on from André Onana, but however far in the past he’s been placed there’s one major issue. The club still own him.

The 29-year-old has a contract at Old Trafford lasting until June 2028. He’s currently on loan at Trabzonspor but has had a mixed time to say the least. A purchase and a commitment to pay Onana’s full salary is perhaps unlikely in the summer.

Onana had his most formative years at Ajax and was a growing name at the Dutch club. Then, in early 2021, he was banned by FIFA for a doping issue. That ban was initially 12 months, and Ajax helped their player get it reduced to nine.

Whilst this was ongoing, the goalkeeper’s contract was running out. Rather than renew so Ajax could get a fee, Onana moved to Inter Milan as a free agent.

That saw him have the best season of his career to date, however, then he quickly left for Manchester United. Inter Milan made a big profit, and Onana was on the road again.

This time the transfer didn’t go quite as well. An endless parade of clangers was tolerated for far too long before Onana was eventually sent to Trabzonspor.

Now, he may have the chance to return to Inter Milan. The Serie A club are set to part ways with Yann Sommer, and need a replacement.

FCInterNews report the Manchester United player’s agent has been spotted in Milan. The agent is presented as having a good relationship with Inter.

Taking the goalkeeper from Old Trafford is seen as an opportunity for the summer. One the player would surely be fortunate to get.

What Manchester United could get back in terms of money is unclear.
