A round-up of the biggest and wildest new Premier League transfer rumours - with news from Newcastle, Manchester United, Aston Villa and more.
Transfer deadline day inches ever closer, and dozens of deals are being debated and negotiated across the Premier League – and to keep you up-to-date with all the latest happenings, we’re back with our regular run-down of all the biggest and strangest new Premier League transfer rumours, starting with a story for the Newcastle fans among you.
According to TeamTalk, the Magpies are “strongly considering” a bid to sign long-time Manchester United target Éderson from Atalanta in the January transfer window, with the club concerned by recent injuries in midfield.
United are still “repeatedly monitoring [Éderson’s] progress” in Italy but “are not expected to enter the race at this stage” as they plan to save their midfield money for a big splash in the summer. That could open the door for Newcastle, who are said to have “conducted extensive background and scouting research” on the Brazilian.
The biggest problem for Newcastle is that they will be rivalled in the bidding by Atlético Madrid, who are said to want Éderson as a replacement for Conor Gallagher. Galatasaray are also said to have “held talks,” but the player’s representatives have apparently spoken to interested Premier League parties in case a chance for a move develops. There’s no word on a transfer fee.
The 3AM Verdict: Éderson, who has also beenlinked extensively with Manchester City in the past, is the kind of dynamic box-to-box midfielder Eddie Howe’s side is built around, but Newcastle have made quite a lot of noise about not having money to spend this winter, which makes us sceptical that they’re in a position to make a bid. We’ll find out more over the coming week.
Manchester United could give Brazilian wonderkid second chance in Europe
Over to a story from GiveMeSport, now, who cite sources from Brazil in claiming that Manchester United are “keeping tabs” on young Brazilian striker Vitor Roque, who is back in his country playing for Palmeiras after a brief and unsuccessful stint with Barcelona.
Palmeiras are said to have set out an asking price of €50m (£43m) for the 20-year-old forward, who scored 20 times in the 2025 season in Brazil. Widely regarded as being among the most promising forwards in world football, Vitor Roque struggled to acclimatise to Barcelona after moving there as a teenager and was swiftly sold back to Brazil with just two goals to his name at the Camp Nou.
Manchester United are said to be “unlikely to make an approach… this month” but are looking at a summer move, with Palmeiras also keen to keep hold of him for the near future. Other Premier League sides are said to be interested in Vitor Roque too, but they aren’t named.
The 3AM Verdict: The backbone of this report is information from sources in Brazil whose reliability we simply aren’t in a position to comment on, but it would be a surprise if the forward never got a second chance at an elite European side given his recent form, and United have beenlinked with him before. Whether United make a move in the summer or not remains to be seen, but he would fit in with their transition towards a youth-first transfer policy.
Aston Villa & Crystal Palace target on-song Fulham star
Let’s check out a story from Caught Offside now, who allege that a breakdown in talks over a new contract for Fulham’s Harry Wilson could be “opening the door” for a number of rival Premier League sides to cement their interest – including Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Leeds, Brentford and Nottingham Forest.
All five of those sides are said to be “monitoring the situation closely,” with Wilson said to be hesitating over a new deal until he knows whether Marco Silva will stay at Craven Cottage. His contact is currently due to expire at the end of the summer, meaning that other teams can now negotiate with him over a potential move at the end of June.
It’s implied that Villa and Palace are at the head of the queue for Wilson, whose recent impressive form has seen his stock soar. It’s suggested that a “summer move is more likely” than an immediate bid, although apparently some clubs are considering an advance move if the terms are right.
The 3AM Verdict: We doubt that Wilson moves this winter as Fulham have little incentive to let him leave unless a big bid comes in, and few of the teams alleged to be in the running will be spending that kind of cash over the course of the next week. As for whether Wilson leaves in the summer or signs a new deal with Fulham, it’s very hard to say, with sources suggesting that the 28-year-old’s future is firmly up in the air.
