Aston Villa have resumed their interest in Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz after an initial approach last week, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
The West Midlands club are reportedly back in active talks to sign the Brazilian, who is spending the season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
Luiz has no shortage of suitors this month despite his limited involvement at the City Ground, with Chelsea also considering the 27-year-old as a potential addition in midfield.
Villa reportedly view a deal for Luiz as a priority in the final week of the January transfer window, while Tammy Abraham’s move is nearing completion.

Romano, writing on X, revealed that Aston Villa are in ongoing negotiations with Juventus over Luiz’s return to the club.
Luiz spent five seasons at Villa Park following his arrival from Manchester City in 2019, scoring 22 goals in 204 appearances in all competitions.
The Brazil international signed for Juventus from Villa for around £43m in the summer of 2024 but struggled to establish himself in Turin.
He made just three Serie A starts during the 2024/25 campaign before joining Forest on loan in August, with the deal including a conditional obligation to buy if he makes a certain number of appearances.
The ‘world-class’ 27-year-old has played 14 times for Forest this term, starting only twice in the Premier League since a change of head coach in October.

Aston Villa have placed heavy focus on attacking reinforcements this month, welcoming Brazilian winger Alysson and English striker Brian Madjo on long-term deals.
The West Midlands club are also anticipated to complete a move for Tammy Abraham, who is set to join from Turkish side Besiktas, where he has scored 13 times in 26 appearances this season.
Abraham is viewed as a replacement for Donyell Malen, who joined Roma on loan this month with an obligation to buy.
Villa considered several strikers following Malen’s exit, including Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, who is aiming to leave Selhurst Park this month.
