One of FIFA's best 11 players in the world welcomes interest from Man Utd

A player marked as one of the best in the world by FIFA would reportedly welcome what would be a shock move to Manchester United.

Carrick has United flying in interim charge

Appointed as their interim manager until the end of the season, Michael Carrick has enjoyed a sensational start at the helm of Man United. Under his guidance, the Red Devils have beaten Manchester City and Arsenal in successive matches, their performances a far cry from the stuttering displays they'd grown accustomed to under Ruben Amorim's management.

Having spent big in the summer, Man United have signed no players in the winter transfer window as of yet, though veteran midfielder Casemiro has announced he will leave the club upon his contract's expiration at the season's end. The club have been linked with making a move ahead of the deadline on the 2nd February, but it remains to be seen whether INEOS will choose to back Carrick, or save their funds for the summer when they'll have a new permanent manager.

Speaking ahead of his side's victory at the Emirates, Carrick said of his reign, as per the official Manchester United website: “For the week or so that it’s been so far, looking too far down the track hasn’t happened so far. It’s just been the initial thoughts of what’s happening now. What the important thing for me is that any decision I make, my staff make, or the club make, it’s not short-term, It’s not just to get through to the end of the season.

"I’ve got a responsibility, whatever happens, to leave the club in a good place and moving forward, to make the right decisions. As time goes on, I’m sure I’ll be part of it and we’ll work our way through it.”

Palmer welcomes interest from Man United

According to Samuel Luckhurst of The Sun, Chelsea star Cole Palmer would "welcome any interest" in him from Man United, amidst reports of him being unsettled at Stamford Bridge.

Stellar since his move from Manchester City in 2023, the biggest of Palmer's problems have only come in recent months. Struggling for consistent fitness, the England international has featured in just 13 games across all competitions for Chelsea this season, scoring five goals.

His form in this campaign does not paint a full picture of Palmer, who FIFA named in their latest best XI based on performances between August 2024 and August 2025. It would appear, however, that Palmer is keen on returning to the city he is from, though it has been reported that the 23-year-old "would not entertain" a move back to the Etihad Stadium.

The Red Devils are well-stocked in their attacking ranks, though they may find it hard not to bid for a star such as Palmer, who currently earns £130,000-per-week at Chelsea. The Sun also noted that there is "uncertainty" around the long-term future of captain Bruno Fernandes and were the skipper to depart in the near future, there are few who would serve as a better replacement than Palmer.
