Aston Villa are looking to strike a loan deal that would see Douglas Luiz return to Villa Park

Douglas Luiz could be set for an emotional return to Aston Villa.
That’s according to several reports, including Sky Sport News and Fabrizio Romano, who claim talks have begun.
Villa were forced to sell the Brazilian in the summer of 2024 as they tried to comply with financial regulations.
He moved to Juventus for a reported €50million but made little impact in his first season, making 27 appearances but only three Serie A starts amid uncertainty around his fitness.
Last summer he was sent on loan to Nottingham Forest and with all the managerial changes has once again struggled to prove himself.
He has made four starts in the Europa League but only five in the Premier League, he has played just six minutes of the last four matches.
Romano says Villa are in ‘active talks’ and that negotiatons with Juve are ‘ongoing’ and that Luiz’s return is a ‘priority’ albeit there are two other options on Unai Emery’s list. He adds that Chelsea are considering different options in the middle of the park.
Luiz made his Premier League breakthrough at Villa, playing 204 times over five impressive seasons before Villa were compelled to cash in.
With injuries to Boubacar Kamara, Youri Tielemans, Ross Barkley and John McGinn, Emery needs reinforcements in the middle of the park.
