Dorgu was named Man of the Match against Arsenal, but his display in North London was cut short when he went down holding the back of his right leg.

Michael Carrick provided an injury update on Dorgu after the full-time whistle and suggested it was “cramp”, but it seems the extent of his setback is much worse than initially feared.

If Dorgu’s recovery timeline is accurate, he could make his return for United against fierce rivals Leeds United after the March international break.

It means Dorgu also faces a race to be fit for Denmark’s World Cup play-off matches in March, with their clash against North Macedonia scheduled for March 26.

Patrick Dorgu’s injury record at Man United

Incredibly, this is the first major injury that Dorgu has suffered across his entire career.

His only previous setback came during his playing days at Lecce, when he missed one game in the 2023/24 season.

Dorgu has appeared in all but one of United’s 2025/26 Premier League fixtures this season, so his absence will be a huge blow to Carrick.

It does open up an opportunity for Matheus Cunha to step back into the starting XI after starting on the bench against City and Arsenal in the last two weeks.

Mason Mount can also hope for opportunities off the left while Dorgu recovers from his hamstring setback.
