After the brilliant performance to progress to the FA Youth Cup last 16 against Derby, Manchester United’s U18 side are back in action against Burnley on Tuesday afternoon.

Darren Fletcher and his Manchester United U18 side were back from the winter break last week, securing a 2-1 win in extra time over Derby, with Chido Obi’s goal being the winner.

It was a momentous occasion, with JJ Gabriel shining once again while Old Trafford was filled with first-team coaches and Wayne Rooney to watch Kai Rooney in the game.

Now, this Tuesday, it is back to the U18 Premier League, and United have 12th-placed Burnley, who are in a battle at the bottom of the table.

United haven’t been great in the league this season, yet a win would move the side 2nd in the table, although still far behind City.

We will have live updates before, during, and after the game right here.

1-0 Manchester United

Great finish by Louie Bradbury to open the scoring after a top pass by Brown as he flicked it past the goalkeeper.

Assist: Junior Brown

Substitution

OFF: Mantato

ON: Douka Nkoto

Hopefully just precaution as he walked himself off.

McCormack playing right back

After being brilliant last week in midfield, McCormack is at right-back today which is something we often saw the U18s do with Jayce Fitzgerald or Jacob Devaney in recent seasons, should help develop his physicality.

All United so far

United knocking the ball around really well to start the game, with one Mantato touch after a long Armer ball the highlight as he then carried inside.

Good start.

Manchester United confirmed XI

Heath; Helafu, Mills, Armer, Watson; McEvoy, Shah, Gabriel; Brown, Bradbury, Mantato

United need a win to keep up title potential

United are currently seven points behind City, with the cross city rivals having two games in hand.

So winning against Burnley would put United back within touching distance in the hopes City don’t win both their games in hand.

A loss would almost certainly hand City the title.

United coming into this on a win

This game directly follows United winning the fourth round FA Youth Cup game against Derby.

Michael Carrick was in attendance for this game, and he will have been really impressed by Godwill Kukonki’s showing at left-back.
