The 41-year-old former United head coach saw his relationship with the Ineos regime at Old Trafford fracture in the weeks leading up to his dismissal.

Amorim’s reign at the Premier League club lasted only 14 months after he replaced former Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford hot seat in 2024.

The ex-Sporting CP manager’s exit from Old Trafford paved the way for Darren Fletcher’s brief caretaker spell before the interim appointment of Michael Carrick.

Speaking to Amazon Prime Video, Clarence Seedorf believes that Ruben Amorim’s successor must be perfectly suited for the top quality of players already at the club.

“Well, I don’t know much about the inside of Manchester United, but I think Man United [have] very good players, and I think that any manager [who] will be perfect needs to be playing the best players,” he said.

Clarence Seedorf’s verdict on Kobbie Mainoo sends the biggest message of all to former Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim

Kobbie Mainoo made his first Premier League start of the season under Michael Carrick and played the full 90 minutes of Man Utd’s encounter with Manchester City.

The 20-year-old Stockport-born talent retained his place in the midfield for United’s 3-2 result over Arsenal, with Kobbie Mainoo chalking up another full 90 minutes.

Mainoo had fallen down the pecking order under Amorim and Seedorf feels that the Portuguese coach failed to understand the importance of playing the England ace.

Should Kobbie Mainoo be an automatic starter under Michael Carrick now?

“For example, Kobbie should be playing,” Seedorf added.

“Those are basic things. So, when you have a team where you actually elevate your most important talents, then things will get through. Keep things simple.

“Get a manager that is a people manager that knows how to, you know, create the right environment for those talents to rise.”

Mainoo picked up an assist on Sunday evening after he set up Matheus Cunha in the second half for Man Utd’s winner against Arsenal in the Premier League clash.
