Man Utd in talks to sign£26m France wonderkid who scores or assists every 106 minutes in Ligue 1 - Journalist

Manchester United have had a very quiet January transfer window, but that could all be about to change.

The prospect of doing business in January is not one Ineos are completely keen on, with the winter market effectively a panic-buying opportunity to strengthen.

However, Manchester United have shown a willingness to sign long-term targets if they become available, and to avoid missing out to other clubs.

This was proven with United’s interest in Antoine Semenyo prior to his City move. Now, United are potentially preparing to make a move that has Christopher Vivell’s fingers all over it.

Imagine you are Jason Wilcox… what transfer business would you do before deadline day?

Manchester United in talks to sign Kader Meite

Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants United to sign the next Kylian Mbappe, and now, in Kader Meite, the Red Devils are looking to add one of France’s most talented 18-year-olds.

Earlier this season, it was reported that United were scouting Meite during his performances for Rennes. Now the deal is developing.

According to journalist Ed Aarons, United are now set to step up the interest in signing Meite, due to the 18-year-old having interest from Al-Hilal.

United have already held talks with the very talented teenager in a deal expected to cost in the region of £26m.

Meite is still very raw, but as far as striker prospects go, Meite is as good as they come in world football right now.

Do you agree with Ineos’ recruitment model of signing wonderkids?

How has Kader Meite been faring in Ligue 1 this season for Rennes?

Standing at 6ft 4in and having the physicality to use it, Meite is considered a top-tier striker prospect right now and has been proving it for Rennes.

This season, the France U21 forward has three goals and two assists in 530 minutes of Ligue 1 football, averaging a contribution every 106 minutes.

Meite is a player far from the finished product, but as a talent, United could be set for 15 years with him and Benjamin Sesko as options, while Chido Obi is also in the ranks.

It would be a market opportunity signing; however, before committing to the deal, United should consider how Obi would be playing in Ligue 1, and whether it would be wiser to develop what we have.

But there can be no complaints about this deal if it happens as he is a tier one prospect, but definitely a signing for the future who could be loaned straight to Nice.
