The 44-year-old United legend has seen his name tossed into the ring for the next permanent manager pick after his sensational start to his interim head coach reign.
Carrick, who returned to Old Trafford earlier this month, has already engineered massive back-to-back Premier League wins against Manchester City and Arsenal.

It feels like Howe’s stock value has decreased in recent seasons and the major piece of silverware attached to the Magpies boss’ name is his League Cup triumph last season.
While the former Bournemouth manager does have a lot more Premier League experience than Carrick, Howe is no longer a name that seems overly exciting.
Carrick even has the edge over Howe when it comes to understanding the deep connection that the Red Devils have to playing under the so-called ‘Man Utd DNA.’
