Patrick Dorgu had enjoyed a wonderful few weeks for Manchester United, altering his career trajectory with his performances, but injury has halted this progress.
Recent weeks have seen Patrick Dorgu used as a left winger to extreme success for Manchester United.
The crowning moment was his thunderous goal against Arsenal, which came one week after he also scored against City, but late on against the Gunners, Dorgu suffered a hamstring injury.
This was a shock considering Dorgu’s excellent injury record, but he now stands to miss 10 weeks, which would see him return around April.
Now, the Danish press has been having its say.

Patrick Dorgu injury reaction from Denmark
Dorgu’s injury is a disaster for United, and it will also now be a heavy blow for Denmark, who have one or two huge fixtures coming up in March.
The World Cup qualification playoffs are to be played in March, with Denmark taking on North Macedonia, before then taking on the winner of the Czech Republic or the Republic of Ireland.

Writing for TipsBladet, Danish journalist Ole Hoffskov explained the blow to Denmark as a “shocking report” before adding a statement.

“It is a definite shocker from a Danish perspective, because it means that Patrick Dorgu will not be ready for the national team’s decisive match against North Macedonia at the end of March, where Denmark’s World Cup fate will be decided.”
The piece also hailed Dorgu’s “classy goal”, which will make the 21-year-old more of a miss, given they now see what he is capable of.
Another Danish outlet, Bold, also commented on how bad the news is for Denmark in the World Cup qualifiers. However, with tests ongoing, he may still be back sooner.
The fact Denmark are worried about losing Dorgu just proves how far he has come recently.

How can Manchester United replace Dorgu?
Dorgu’s recent form has earned Gareth Bale comparisons, with his power, conversion from full-back, and rapid development similar to the Welshman.
So he will be a big miss, and currently within the squad, Dorgu is irreplaceable.
United don’t have another player who can do what Dorgu does, and while Matheus Cunha will play, he offers very different qualities, which may be better suited against Fulham anyway.
Dorgu’s physical qualities and being a left-footed left winger make him a traditional option on the left for Carrick. We wouldn’t be shocked to perhaps see Amad there against Fulham for his left foot.
But Dorgu out means Cunha starts, which lessens the blow slightly.
Denmark will be having similar conversations over how they replace the rare profile of Dorgu, but they have longer to plan than Carrick.
