Manchester United haven’t made any new additions to Michael Carrick’s squad in the winter market.
The Premier League side, however, have been active to try and secure promising talents for their academy this season.
Manchester United have already made advances to sign Fortaleza CEIF’s Cristian Orozco. On Boxing Day, the 17-year-old midfielder confirmed he’s moving to Old Trafford in the summer and will sign a five-year contract.
The Red Devils are also in direct contact with LDU Quito to sign their youngster, Ederson Castillo.
Cork City’s Ikechimka Manjor has now emerged as another young option for Manchester United.
Irish journalist Conor McEvoy reports the youngster has travelled to Carrington.
The 16-year-old has already represented Republic of Ireland U15s and U17s so far. His rise at Cork City hasn’t gone unnoticed at the Red Devils and other Premier League sides.
Manjor was spotted in a training video posted by a Manchester United U18 player. The journalist didn’t mention the latter’s name but says he’s a son of a former Republic of Ireland international.
McEvoy has found out from his own sources that the centre-back has made a trip to Carringhton, Manchester United’s training ground. The youngster is currently going through a test with the English club.
The defender has already signed his first professional contract with Cork City, so Manchester United would have to pay some kind of fee.
McEvoy adds the Red Devils aren’t alone as other unnamed Premier League sides have him on their agenda. He’s backed Manjor to have a bright future.
