Leeds United have only lost once in 10 Premier League matches, which is definitely something to boast about as a newly-promoted team. And that sole defeat was the excruciating, and undeserved, 4-3 defeat to Newcastle United.

Within this run, there have been three wins - against Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Fulham. The six others have been draws, with ties against Manchester United and Everton perhaps draws that could have been turned into wins.

But then we are venturing into the ifs, bus and maybes and that does not help or is not conducive to anything. Leeds have 15 games left, are six points clear of the drop zone and are three points ahead of their point-per-game aim.

Over the past 10 games, Leeds rank eighth in the form table with no team suffering fewer (zero) defeats. Some 18 goals have been scored with 13 conceded - with four of these coming in one match. However, over the past five games, Leeds rank 15th with one win but three draws.

So there has been a slight drop off but Leeds would take 15th place right now, no questions asked. And anyway, their form betters Sunderland, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley in across both tables.

The truth is that the momentum may take a hit in the next batch of games. Never under-estimate Leeds at home, especially against a title challenger who has just come off the back of a defeat - though Saturday’s clash with Arsenal will regardless be a tough test.

Then comes a crunch home clash with Nottingham Forest, where Leeds will fancy their chances. But afterwards comes Chelsea away before Aston Villa away and Manchester City at home.

Yet afterwards comes the brighter news - here are the opponents left to play following the visit of Man City next month: Sunderland at home, Crystal Palace away, Brentford at home, Manchester United away, Wolves at home, Bournemouth away, Burnley at home, Tottenham away, Brighton at home and West Ham away.

Leeds need just 12 points from those games to reach their 38-point aim - it looks very doable. If Leeds can somehow replicate their one-defeat-in-ten-games streak in the next batch of matches, they could get there early.

It’s far from an easy task but Leeds have shown they are able to compete at this level, and some. Each result is great, each win is even better.

Elland Road is such a fortress and Arsenal and Man City will feel that full-scale when they visit, let alone those lower down the table.

United have lost just twice at home all season - if they suffer just two more home defeats for the rest of this season, they could secure survival on home form alone.
