Manchester United are monitoring Rennes striker Mohamed Kader Meite ahead of the winter transfer deadline next Monday, according to Sky Sports.
It is unlikely that Man United will move for the 18-year-old this window as things stand, but their stance could change with the potential sale of Joshua Zirkzee.
The Dutchman is attracting interest from Juventus and the Red Devils could look to bring a replacement to the Old Trafford club if he is sold.
#mufc are aware of young French protege Kader Meite, who is on a list of potential future targets. Very unlikely they’d move for him in this window – barring, say, a large money offer coming in for Zirkzee. But Meite is a big prospect – 3 goals in 6 starts for Rennes in Ligue 1.

Man United are expecting a quiet end to the winter transfer window and will only consider any potential sales if they receive a significant bid for any of their players.
It remains to be seen whether Juve will offer a juicy bid for Zirkzee, and the Red Devils will wait to see what happens.
They have been tracking Meite for a while and they see him as a future transfer target having been impressed with his performances at senior level.
The teenage striking sensation has made 17 league appearances for Rennes so far this term, weighing in with three goals and two assists in six starts.
Man United head coach Michael Carrick deployed Bryan Mbeumo as a number 9 in the victories over Manchester City and Arsenal, but he could do with more striking options going forward this term.
The 6ft 4in Meite has proven his huge potential in just a short while in France, notching two goals in 12 league games for the senior team after 12 goals at youth level last term.
However, a move to Man United could come too early for the Frenchman and he needs to keep playing regularly and developing himself ahead of a potential swoop by the Red Devils or one of the bigwigs in Europe.
