Fresh update emerges on Harry Maguire’s Man Utd future after Motm performance vs Arsenal -…

Harry Maguire is increasingly unlikely to remain at Manchester United beyond the expiry of his contract in June, according to Daily Mail journalist Nathan Salt.

The 32-year-old defender is reportedly set to depart Old Trafford after the season, with United showing little willingness to offer him an extension.

Maguire is believed to have interest from multiple Serie A and Premier League clubs, with Italian sides already making enquiries with a view to a pre-contract agreement.

The England international was man of the match in United’s 3-2 win over Arsenal last weekend, helping Michael Carrick maintain his winning start as interim head coach.

According to Salt, United have had an opportunity to offer Maguire an extension but appear unlikely to do so at this stage.

Senior United figures are reportedly keen to see Maguire’s minutes go to Leny Yoro and Ayden Heaven next season, with the two youngsters not featuring in the first two games under Carrick.

West Ham were recently linked with a swoop for Maguire, who was also targeted by the Hammers during David Moyes’ reign at the London Stadium.

The ‘perfect’ 32-year-old defender joined United from Leicester City in the summer of 2019 and has made 258 appearances for the club to date, scoring 17 goals.

Maguire has only made six Premier League starts amid injury issues this season but played the full 90 minutes under Carrick in wins over Arsenal and Manchester City, partnering Lisandro Martinez in central defence.

United have several contract situations to resolve ahead of the summer, with Tom Heaton and Tyrell Malacia’s deals also expiring.

The Red Devils have already confirmed Casemiro will be leaving the club at the end of his contract in June.

Yet to register any major transfer activity this month, Manchester United remain unlikely to welcome new signings before Monday’s deadline.

The Red Devils appear set to approach the final run of Premier League fixtures with an unchanged squad, with plans to sign a new midfielder likely to be delayed until the summer.

It has not been ruled out that United could still allow a first-team exit this month, with Joshua Zirkzee’s situation one to watch ahead of the deadline.

The Dutch striker was not in the squad for the last two Premier League games and has interest from Serie A sides Roma and Juventus.
