Tammy Abraham and Douglas Luiz will not feature for Aston Villa this evening in the club’s final Europa League league phase match against RB Salzburg.

Leon Bailey, who was recalled from his loan spell at Roma last week, came off the bench against Newcastle United on Sunday but is also absent tonight.

All three players are unavailable because they were not included in the club’s List A squad for the league phase campaign, which had to be submitted shortly after the summer transfer window closed.

Villa will only be able to add new players to their List A squad after the winter transfer window shuts, in time for the knockout rounds.

As per UEFA regulations, the club will be permitted to register three new players - just as they did 12 months ago with the additions of Marcus Rashford, Marco Asensio and Axel Disasi.

Donyell Malen and Andrés García also joined Villa last January but were not included in the Champions League knockout squad, as Unai Emery opted to register the three loan signings instead.

Abraham and Luiz could, therefore, make their second debuts for Villa this Sunday against Brentford.

Both players will provide much-needed depth for Unai Emery, who has handed Harvey Elliott his first start in four months in tonight’s match against Salzburg.
