Man United are reportedly looking to upgrade at the left-winger position to boost Carrick’s attack.

Man United’s squad is in a better position now than it has been over the past few years. It seems that the whole team want to play for United, and the quality of football has certainly seen an upturn, especially under Michael Carrick.

Looking in attack, Carrick has Bryan Mbeumo at his disposal on the right-hand side, or up front, and similarly Matheus Cunha in a similar position. He has Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount as central attacking midfielders, but the left-wing spot is an issue.

Carrick has been playing Patrick Dorgu as a winger rather than a left-back, which has completely transformed him. But now that Dorgu is injured, he doesn’t have many other options, so United are looking to upgrade at the position.

Man United targeting Chelsea starlet and AC Milan forward Leao

According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils want to upgrade at left-wing for the long-term, as they plan to stick to a back four, whether that be under Carrick or someone else, for next season and beyond. It is understood they are drawing up a shortlist of potential options to sign either this month or in the summer.

They include two names of interest for United, the first one being AC Milan attacker Rafael Leao, who would likely be an expensive, but blockbuster signing. The report says that the Italian media claim AC Milan could sanction an exit for their star forward if the price is right. He’s scored seven goals in 16 Serie A games this season, and has an estimated market value of around £60m.

George would be much cheaper, but he is less proven than Leao. He’s made just four Premier League appearances this season, and has an estimated market value of just £19m, making him a much cheaper option.

Man United also keen on Everton star

It is understood that Everton firmly say that Ndiaye is not for sale, but if Man United can tempt the former Sheffield United man with an exit to Old Trafford, he could demand to move, and the Toffees would then have to oblige.

This likely means that the 25-year-old won’t come cheap, but he would likely cost somewhere between Leao and George, based on his value. This season, Ndiaye has made 17 Premier League appearances for David Moyes’ side, scoring four goals, and providing two assists.
