Man Utd set to loan Sekou Kone out after successful trial, latest update shows he might play a lot - Journalist

Sekou Kone hasn’t quite hit the heights expected since joining Manchester United, but now he is set for what might be a vital loan move.

Having arrived at Carrington as a very raw 18-year-old midfielder from Mali, the past 18 months have seen Sekou Kone develop into a very well-rounded talent.

Manchester United remain very high on Kone, believing he is a future first-team player for the club.

Arguably, Kone may have already debuted if he hadn’t suffered an injury to his orbital bone in August, which kept him out for months.

However, after returning, Kone looked better than ever, clearly too good for academy football, and this month will see the talent leave on loan.

WHICH Manchester United player needs a loan move most for the rest of the 2025/26 season?

Who desperately needs game time?

Kone has already played for Lausanne, featuring in a mid-season friendly during the winter break.

Now, Marc Mechenoua, who is a journalist for Le Parisien, has claimed Kone is set to officially join Lausanne on loan until the end of the season.

He adds that Kone has been training already with the Lausanne squad and his new teammates, with the admin of the signing close to completion.

So Kone will be joining Enzo Kana-Biyik in the Swiss lakeside city, where the hills themselves will improve his physicality.

Kone could play a lot luckily for Manchester United

Kone has been spending time with Lausanne in advance in order for the player, club, and United to all gauge whether the loan is the best fit for all involved, and clearly it is.

United could have a future Casemiro replacement in Kone, and he could play a bulk of the Lausanne games in the next few months, which includes Conference League football.

This is because Lausanne has seen midfielder Souleymane Ndiaye ruled out for three months after surgery on both of his shoulders, the club confirmed on X.

Kone will therefore be higher up the pecking order than he originally would have been, and United will be thrilled at the prospect of the wonderkid playing senior football regularly.
