Tyler Fredricson suffers devastating blow after Belgian club registered interest in loan move ahead of deadline

Tyler Fredricson will not be joining the group of young players leaving Manchester United on loan in the coming days.

Several Manchester United players are expected to leave the club before the transfer deadline at 7pm on February 2.

Rhys Bennett and Ethan Wheatley are two players closing in on potential exits.

Tyler Fredricson had been poised to join them, before a disastrously-timed injury for the young centre-back.

Tyler Fredricson latest

Tyler Fredricson has been a back-up centre-back option at Manchester United after stepping up to make his first team debut under Ruben Amorim last season.

Fredricson played in the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby and then had to wait until December for his next appearance, coming off the bench late on Boxing Day in the win over Newcastle.

He has not played since and United were willing to let him leave on loan. However, this will not be happening.

Simon Peach reports that several Championship clubs and a Belgian Pro League side had made contact over a loan move.

But a case of disastrous timing has seen Fredricson pick up a calf injury that is set to keep him out of action for a month.

Fredricson is now expected to stay at United and recover, missing out on his first ever loan move.

On January 20 he captained the under-21s to a 3-2 win over Sporting in the Premier League International Cup.

Do you believe Manchester United can overhaul Arsenal and win the title?!

What lies ahead for Tyler Fredricson

As Tyler Fredricson’s injury is expected to only keep him out for a month, it is a shame that a loan move still cannot go ahead.

The 20-year-old will instead return to try and compete for a place at United, but we do not expect much to change for him.

With United playing two centre-backs again, Fredricson’s task is even tougher.

He is sixth choice behind Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, Matthijs de Ligt, Ayden Heaven, and Leny Yoro.

This is a test for Fredricson mentally. There will be under-21 games for him to play and he will have chances to train with the first team.

Hopefully injuries will not get to the stage that Fredricson will be required, but if he is, it might be useful to have the young defender around at the end of the season.
