Man Utd have shelved a transfer in the final days of the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old was eager to leave the club on a temporary deal this month, but will remain at United until the end of the season after he suffered a calf injury. It is understood that the young centre-back will be sidelined for roughly a month after the setback in an unfortunate blow to his immediate development.
Fredricson has only made two senior appearances this season and knows he is unlikely to feature for the first team again after their switch to a back four under Michael Carrick. He has made four appearances for the first team since he made his debut under Ruben Amorim last year, and he wanted to gain regular playing time ahead of a potential exit in the summer.

United change transfer plan after unexpected injury blow
Tyler Fredricson will remain at Manchester United beyond the January transfer window after a calf injury ruled out any potential exit before Monday's deadline. The 20-year-old should be back in action by early March and could feature for the U21s before another transfer is considered in the summer.
United still plan to sanction several loan exits in the final days of the window, with Toby Collyer set to join Hull City for the remainder of the season. The 22-year-old has agreed a move to the Championship club and is expected to be available for selection when they travel to face Blackburn Rovers this weekend.
Ethan Wheatley has also agreed a loan move to League One promotion hopefuls Bradford City, while Rhys Bennett is in talks to join League Two side Fleetwood Town. United will also consider any loan offers for teenage forward James Scanlon, while midfielder Sekou Kone is spending time with Lausanne-Sport ahead of a potential loan until the end of the season.
United do not expect to conduct any major transfer business in the final days of the January transfer window, with their primary focus on a rebuild in the summer. United have prioritised a midfield refresh this year, while they are also in the market for a left winger and reinforcement at full-back. They have not completely ruled out a late move for a midfielder this month, though it is still deemed unlikely.
