Everton are interested in a move for an ex-Aston Villa striker but face competition from Bournemouth, West Ham and Nottingham Forest

Everton are keen to add a striker to their ranks before the end of the January transfer window but time is swiftly running out for David Moyes to bolster his squad.

The transfer deadline is looming with Premier League clubs given until 7pm on Monday to wrap up any deals. The deadline used to be much later into the evening but has been moved forward in recent years to stay in line with other major European leagues.

Everton have been linked with a number of strikers this month with the likes Youssef En-Nesyri and Tammy Abraham touted as possible options to join the Toffees. En-Nesyri remains at Fenerbahçe having also attracting interest from Juventus and in recent days Zenit St Petersburg have emerged as contenders to sign him.

The 22-year-old Colombian is currently on loan in Turkey from Al-Nassr and that would make a January move complicated, but a near-identical scenario did not prevent Abraham from securing a permanent move to Villa earlier this week.

Like Abraham, Duran used to ply his trade at Villa Park before securing a massive £64m move to the Saudi Pro League in January 2025.

However, Everton and their Premier League rivals risk missing out on Duran as Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu has reported on X that “Juventus has made an official offer for Jhon Duran.”

Duran has 12 goals and one assist in 55 Premier League games and has a current market value of just more than £27m. It is a big drop from the £64m paid for him 12 months ago when Al-Nassr signed him from Villa. It is unclear how much they would demand if they decided to sell him.

Moyes addressed Everton’s transfer business after Monday’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

“No, not at the moment. I don’t know anymore. I might find out a bit more over the next day or two,” he said when asked if a new signing could be close.
