Man United already have full scout report on striker who is scoring at the same rate as Erling Haaland

Manchester United’s transfer team have already done their homework on one exciting striker target.

The last summer transfer window was spent strengthening the attacking options at Manchester United with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko brought in to strengthen the squad.

Because of early exits, United will only play 40 matches this season – the fewest possible for any top-flight team in England.

It means that Ineos have been able to operate with a small squad in 2025/26, but extra depth will be needed for next season, especially if Michael Carrick leads United to Champions League qualification.

While a new striker is not a top priority in 2026, extra depth up front could be needed if United are back in Europe. As far as targets go, Ineos already have a full report on Samu Aghehowa.

Man United scouted Samu Aghehowa, now he is flying

Last season, Aghehowa scored twice against United in the Champions League in a 3-3 draw with Porto.

Matthijs de Ligt was torn apart by Aghehowa, and it seems that performance sparked interest from United and their scouting department.

This season, the 21-year-old Spaniard has raised his level again, scoring 20 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.

Interestingly, he is averaging a goal every 93 minutes, which is the exact same scoring rate as Erling Haaland in the Premier League (as per BBC Sport).

Ineos should not be put off Liga Portugal

Ineos have not had a good relationship with the Liga Portugal after hiring Ruben Amorim from Sporting Lisbon only to sack him 14 months later.

Additionally, United fans may point towards Viktor Gyokeres’ poor start at Arsenal as another reason to avoid the Portuguese league in the future.

But United have actually had plenty of transfer success when buying from Portugal.

Look no further than Bruno Fernandes, who signed from Sporting in 2020. Or Cristiano Ronaldo, the same in 2003.

Samu has shown he can dominate in Portugal and in Europe, and United saw first hand last season that he has the physicality, pace and technique to compete in the Premier League.
