This Everton target could be available again as his pending deal has come to a halt
Clubs are now into the final days of the January window and will be scrambling to get late deals over the line before they see out the rest of the 2025/26 season.
The Toffees have been on the market for new attacking options and were linked with the Wolves star earlier in the window. However, they looked set to miss out as it emerged earlier this week that Crystal Palace were close to agreeing a deal worth up to £50 million for Strand Larsen.
This has all been blown wide open once again, as the Eagles are now focusing on another target from the Premier League.
Everton target Jorgen Strand Larsen potentially back on the table
According to a new update from The Telegraph, Strand Larsen’s move to Selhurst Park has is now in jeopardy.
Crystal Palace have agreed a loan deal with Aston Villa’s Evann Guessand, including a £28m option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
The Eagles have been interested in Guessand for some time now, having attempted to sign him last summer while he was with Nice. Instead, the Ivory Coast international joined Aston Villa on a permanent deal, but he has been struggling for regular game time in his maiden season.
This could put Strand Larsen back on the market for other suitors to consider once again, but Palace do remain linked with the Norwegian striker.
Will Crystal Palace still target Jorgen Strand Larsen?
Despite scoring just one Premier League goal for Wolves so far this season, Strand Larsen has been the subject of hefty interest this window.
While the move to Selhurst Park is now in doubt, Oliver Glasner’s side could still potentially pursue another forward. Jean-Philippe Mateta has been linked with a move away from Palace, with Nottingham Forest reportedly willing to pay £35 million for him.
Mateta has started every Premier League game for Palace this season and they will need to replace him quickly if he does leave. This could keep the door open for Strand Larsen as he eyes a way out of Wolves, who remain rooted to the bottom of the table.
Everton’s path to signing Strand Larsen is far from clear as Leeds United are also interested. The West Yorkshire club saw a bid worth up to £39m rejected last week.
