Crystal Palace could be facing late competition from Juventus to sign Evan Guessand from Aston Villa.
That’s according to Foot Mercato. The website reports that an ‘Italian twist’ cannot be ruled out in the final days of the window.
Crystal Palace currently find themselves at the epicentre of January’s business, with players coming and going almost daily.
After losing Marc Guehi, Jean-Philippe Mateta also seems determined to depart. He’s being courted by AC Milan, Nottingham Forest and others. An offer for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand-Larsen is already on the table.
But he’s not the only one they want. Aston Villa’s Evan Guessand has also been targeted to bolster their forward line. A principle agreement for a loan with an option to buy has already been agreed between Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.
However, according to FM’s information, Juventus have entered the race. They are ready to offer the same loan terms with an option to buy. An Italian twist in the tale could be on the cards, similar to what is happening with Mateta.
The striker appeared destined for Nottingham Forest, but AC Milan aren’t giving up their hopes of getting him yet. Guessand could be the same.
Juventus not just annoying Crystal Palace
Juventus have been inserting themselves into other club’s ideas all month. They’re looking to improve their own forward line but don’t appear to have any original ideas on how to do so.
Instead, it’s been a constant case of seeing what others are doing and deciding they quite like it, so they’ll have a taste. Now Guessand is in their sights, despite Crystal Palace doing all the leg work.
