The Ronaldo, Rooney and Carlos Tevez partnership is widely regarded as one of the best Premier League attacking trios of all time after their collective impact together.

Man Utd’s all-time leading scorer arrived at the Premier League club at the tail end of Ruud van Nistelrooy’s prolific spell in England under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Speaking on his podcast, Rooney named United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy as the best finisher at Man Utd ahead of the likes of Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Van Nistelrooy, I think, [is the] best finisher,” he said on BBC Sport’s The Wayne Rooney Show.

Alongside his admiration for former Man Utd striker Van Nistelrooy, Rooney admitted that Darren Fletcher was the best athlete that he shared the pitch with at the club.

“Best athlete, Darren Fletcher,” he added.

“He was the fittest, always fittest in the running.”

Rooney lifted five Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy, a Europa League trophy, an FA Cup and three League Cups before he left the Red Devils in 2017.
