Lisandro Martinez already thinks Michael Carrick has an ‘unbelievable’ trait as Man Utd manager

Michael Carrick is already having a positive impact on the players at Manchester United, with Lisandro Martinez the latest star to sing the praises of the newly appointed head coach.

It has been an incredibly busy month for everyone at Manchester United.

Ruben Amorim was dismissed less than 24 hours after United drew 1-1 with Leeds at Elland Road.

In a matter of two weeks, Michael Carrick was hired as head coach, taking over from Amorim until the end of the season.

Carrick has until then to make a case that he is the right man for the job permanently, though that will require Champions League qualification at a minimum.

The 44-year-old has had the perfect start since returning to Old Trafford, with two wins from as many games against Premier League title contenders Man City and Arsenal.

United’s two unexpected wins under Carrick mean the team has jumped to fourth in the league table. They are hoping to make it three consecutive wins when Fulham visit Old Trafford on Sunday.

Lisandro Martinez impressed by ‘unbelievable’ Michael Carrick

There is more optimism in the air now than there was a month ago when it comes to United.

It proves that winning matches can be a major recipe that delivers happiness, or at least momentum. Carrick needs to carry that with him for the remainder of the season to ensure United finish the campaign in the strongest position possible.

Carrick has not been afraid to make some big decisions on the touchline, despite only getting the job over two weeks ago.

Lisandro Martinez, who has started both games under Carrick at centre-back alongside Harry Maguire, explains why he is ‘impressed’ by the new head coach in such a short period of time.

In a TikTok video for Stan Sport Football, Martinez said: “In short time, for me, as I said already, I’m impressed with him, about his body language, his energy, his communication as well.

“The staff as well, very close to the player, the way he trusts the players. The way he talks, the way he connects with each other. It’s unbelievable.”

There will be greater morale in the dressing room next week if United can make it three wins on the bounce against Fulham.

Otherwise, Carrick will be trying to pick them up, but that is not a setback anyone wants to touch on ahead of the game.

Lisandro Martinez looks to defend Fulham record

Martinez has played against Fulham four times since signing for United in 2022.

The World Cup winner won four of those games, including an FA Cup quarter-final victory in 2023, ending 3-1 thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes (brace) and Marcel Sabitzer.

Martinez also scored the winner against Fulham at Craven Cottage last season.
