Michael Carrick has confirmed that Patrick Dorgu is set for a spell on the sidelines after injuring himself against Arsenal but was unable to offer a specific timeline for the wing-back's return.
Dorgu has been in fine form for the Red Devils in recent weeks but injured his hamstring in the 3-2 win over Arsenal last weekend. It has since been claimed the Denmark international, 21, could be absent for as long as 10 weeks, sparking fears Carrick will be deprived of a key player for a significant period.
Carrick confirmed that Dorgu is expected to be out of action - but he stopped short of confirming whether it would be for a significant period, stressing the club were still working on the extent of the issue.
Speaking in his press conference on Friday, Carrick said: "Josh [Zirkzee] is back training this week, which is good news. Pat, unfortunately he's going to be out for a period of time but we're still working out how long that will be. Disappointing because he has had a good couple of weeks, it is looking serious. A few weeks out, we will have to see. It is part of football."
He added: "It is not ideal we don't want to lose good players. Part of having a squad and being able to cover certain things. It is the nature of the beast."
