Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has confirmed that Patrick Dorgu will be out for the next few weeks. The Red Devils star injured his hamstring in the 3-2 win over Arsenal last weekend.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Fulham clash, Carrick said that they were unsure if it was an injury or just cramps right after the match at the Emirates. They were handed the bad news earlier this week, and the manager has confirmed that he will be on the sidelines for some time. He said (via Yahoo):
"Pat, [Dorgu], unfortunately, he’s going to be out for a period of time. We’re still working through how long that’s going to be. So we’ll have to see. Disappointment, he’s had such a big couple of weeks, Pat. So we weren’t sure whether it was a little bit of a cramp or was it something a little bit more serious. At the moment, it looks a little bit more on the serious note."
"So it’ll be a few weeks for that, how many weeks we’ll have to wait and see. So that’s disappointing for all of us, really, and for Pat. He’s in such a good place, but unfortunately, it is football and it’s something we’ve got to work through and get him back as soon as we can.”
Dorgu scored in the 3-2 win over Arsenal, but had to be forced off the pitch in the 81st minute after he pulled up. Apart from the Danish star, Matthijs de Ligt is also on the sidelines and is yet to rejoin training.
Manchester United have star player back in training
Michael Carrick also had good news for the Manchester United fans, with Joshua Zirkzee returning to training after missing the last few games. The manager confirmed that the Dutchman needs to time to get back to full fitness after returning to the first-team training this week.
“Yeah, Josh [Zirkzee] is back training this week, which is good news. Obviously, first time, so he’s been out for a short amount of time, but first training with us since we’ve been here, so that’s great to have Josh back."
Zirkzee has been linked with a move back to Italy this month, with several sides showing interest. However, the Red Devils were adamant about not letting him leave this month, either on loan or permanently, and he is set to stay at Manchester United.
