Man Utd youngster set for loan as Carrick hints at further deals

Working: Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick

Transfer Deadline Day is fast approaching, though it has been a quiet month for Man Utd with their business mainly focusing on recalls for a number of young players.

Ethan Wheatley, Toby Collyer, Sonny Aljofree, Louis Jackson and Elyh Harrison have all returned from spells up and down the country.

Meanwhile, Harry Amass saw his loan at Sheffield Wednesday cut short, but has since joined fellow Championship side Norwich for the remainder of the season.

One deal that appears to be imminent is that of Collyer to Hull after an update from Sergej Jakirovic.

“I think we will complete the deal for Toby this week,” the Hull boss said.

“It’s always a gamble, every player can get injured but I’m optimistic and positive and I wanted Toby in the summer but he chose West Brom as he saw City had an embargo and a salary cap so you are trying to find a calm place to play.”

Toby Collyer spent the first half of the season on loan at West Brom

In terms of potential incomings at Old Trafford, United have been linked with names such as Ruben Neves, Mohamed Kader Meite and Nathaniel Brown.

Joshua Zirkzee - fit again after injury - is rumoured to be a target for Serie A duo Juventus and Roma, while reports in the Dutch media claim Tyrell Malacia could leave on loan.

Discussing if there will be any further business between now and Monday night, Carrick offered an interesting update.

“I think we are just working through it, never say never,” he said in the pre-Fulham press conference.

“A lot can happen and situations can be thrown up. Sometimes it is in our control, sometimes it is out of our control that we have got to deal with.

“We are calm, I am pretty calm. We have got and we have shown what we are capable of doing as a team.

“We will have to see what the next few days bring. But we are calm about it.”
