Sky Sports - Billionaire-owned club now want to sign Everton star before Monday deadline

Nottingham Forest are considering a late winter swoop for Everton attacker Dwight McNeil, according to Sky Sports News’ Rob Dorsett. Everton are unlikely to allow one of their forwards to leave the Hill Dickinson Stadium club without a replacement in place having lost Jack Grealish for the rest of the season. Forest, owned by billionaire businessman Evangelos Marinakis are desperate to bolster their attack and could look to test the Toffees’ resolve.

#nffc considering a late move for #efc Dwight McNeil. Difficult one to get across the line, because Everton would only allow him to leave if they can get a replacement – resources stretched on Merseyside with Grealish out for the season.

McNeil has made 17 appearances across all competitions for Everton this season but has only started seven times in the Premier League. A move to Forest could appeal to him as their manager Sean Dyche eyes a reunion. Dyche made the Toffees star a top player at Burnley, and he is keen to work with him again as the City Ground club are desperate to hold on to their Premier League status at the end of the season. Forest could look to offer Everton a tempting deal to lure McNeil away, and it will be interesting to see how things go in the coming hours.

The 26-year-old is out of contract in 2027, and selling him right now could appeal to them. However, they will need to get a replacement first and there is very little time left in the window to wrap up a new deal.
