Tavernier 'needs two or three weeks' before return as Iraola gives team news update

David Brooks is likely to be the next player back into the fold, after he picked up an ankle issue at Newcastle in the FA Cup, while Tavernier and Tyler Adams will be the next two back after him.

Heading to Wolves on Saturday, Iraola is expecting a similar picture to the squad which played in the victory over Liverpool.

“We obviously add Rayan from the other game but injury wise I think it's going to be very, very similar,” Iraola said.

“I think Brooks is the next one to arrive but I think it's going to be a little bit early for him and probably will have to wait until next week. And yes, I think the picture will be very similar.”

The Cherries have a number of long-term injuries.

Justin Kluivert is likely ruled out for most, if not all of the rest of the season, while Ben Gannon-Doak also underwent surgery on a thigh issue.

The Scot’s surgery was back in November, and Iraola gave an update on his progress: “He had surgery and he's more or less in his timeline, he is doing well but still hasn't done anything with the group.

“I think he's still, he needs more weeks. It's not going to be something imminent.”

Iraola also gave an update on Tavernier: “With Tav it’s a smaller injury, but I think he will still need two, three weeks, more or less, two weeks.

“I think we are playing Aston Villa, Everton. I don't think he will arrive because we're talking about 10 days.

“I don't think he's going to be ready for this. But from there, after those games, he might have a chance.”

The boss added: “I think the next ones that we should recover should be Brooksy, and then Tyler, Tav, I think those would be the next ones in line, I think.”
