Manchester United have limited time remaining before the January transfer window closes for another year. United have been strongly linked with strengthening their squad ahead of Monday's deadline, but are yet to secure any fresh additions.
Michael Carrick was named as United's interim head coach for the remainder of the campaign earlier this month and has made an excellent beginning in the Old Trafford hot seat.
United have secured victories against Manchester City and Arsenal in their previous two fixtures, and will be hoping to maintain that victorious streak when they host Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.
The triumph over the Gunners lifted United into fourth position in the Premier League standings and placed them ahead of rivals Liverpool and Chelsea in the battle for Champions League qualification.
Away from the action on the pitch, United continue to be linked with numerous potential new arrivals, though it remains uncertain whether the Reds will turn to the market for reinforcements before Monday's deadline, reports the Mirror.
Here, the Manchester Evening News examines some of the most recent United transfer speculation and rumours that have surfaced over the past 24 hours.
Joao Gomes update
United remain linked with a potential move for Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes as the January transfer window approaches its conclusion. TEAMtalk has reported that United are considering whether to make a bid for Gomes ahead of Monday's deadline.
Nevertheless, whilst United maintain their interest in acquiring Gomes, the report suggests that a transfer is unlikely to materialise until the summer at the very earliest.
Recent reports have suggested that Wolves are valuing Gomes at approximately £43million (€50million).
Joshua Zirkzee wanted
Joshua Zirkzee is once more being linked with a departure from United before the transfer window closes.
Tuttosport has reported that Juventus have now shown interest in securing Zirkzee's signature before Monday's deadline.
It has been suggested that Juve are seeking to recruit a striker before the window closes, and with primary target Randal Kolo Muani appearing increasingly likely to stay at Tottenham Hotspur, Zirkzee has emerged as the preferred alternative.
The report continues by stating that, should Zirkzee join Juventus, it would be on a loan deal until the end of the season.
