Sky Sports: Nottingham Forest now in talks to sign another "incredible" target after Davide…

Nottingham Forest have now reportedly opened talks to sign another January target after advancing their deal for Davide Frattesi.

Nottingham Forest finalising move to sign Frattesi

Having already signed Lorenzo Lucca earlier in the window, Nottingham Forest have now turned their focus towards Serie A midfielder Frattesi.

According to Fabrizio Romano, those at the City Ground are now finalising their move to sign the Inter Milan man, who is yet to make a decision about his immediate future ahead of Monday's deadline.

Forest's move to sign Frattesi should come as little shock, given that they've been after a midfielder in the final week of the window. They've already seen an approach turned down to sign Yasin Ayari from Brighton & Hove Albion and that has seemingly seen them return to Serie A for another star.

Yet, Sean Dyche and co. still might not be done. They have days remaining in the transfer window and several names have emerged as reported targets in recent days.

The Frenchman's priorities are clear.

Alongside the Inter midfielder, they could sign Mathias Oliveira from Napoli as well Stefan Ortega from Manchester City, as they look to welcome a new shot-stopper.

According to Sky Sports' Florian Plettenberg, Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign Ortega from Man City before the end of the transfer window. The goalkeeper is set to leave the Etihad. Whether it's Forest who secure his signature is now the big question.

Nottingham Forest open talks to sign Ortega

Whilst Ortega has never been Man City's No.1, he has particularly found himself down the pecking order at the club this season following the arrival of Gianluigi Donnarumma and James Trafford in the summer.

Stefan Ortega

Now, Forest are reportedly looking to take full advantage to hand Mats Sels more competition for at least the rest of the current campaign.

Forest fans shouldn't be fooled by Ortega's place down the pecking order at City, either. Pep Guardiola has praised his shot-stopper more than once over the years, including when he told reporters after defeating Tottenham in 2024: "He defined I would say how the team is a team. Ortega saved the actions otherwise Arsenal will be champions.

"Do you know how many times Son punished us in the last seven or eight years? I said ‘No, not again.’ But Stefan made an incredible save. He has this talent. In one on ones, he is one of the best keepers I’ve ever seen in my life."
