Albion might have to wait to unleash wingers together

But Fabian Hurzeler’s latest update suggests he will not be ready to start against Everton.

Minteh and his fellow winger Kaoru Mitoma have not started together since the win at Chelsea in late September.

They could be just what is needed to help stretch an Everton side who have a great defensive record away from home.

But Hurzeler was cagey when asked about the Gambia man.

The Albion head coach told The Argus: “He's improving his readiness.

"I think he's still not 100% but definitely he's getting closer and then it's always a great option with Yankuba to have him in the squad because we know what he can give the team.

“We know what he's capable of doing and therefore we all pleased that he's getting back to his shape.”

Joel Veltman is over a minor knee issue, although his absence at Fulham was also described as tactical.

Expect him to return at right-back and Ferdi Kadioglu to resume his left-sided partnership with Mitoma.

Nottingham Forest target Yasin Ayari is among those competing for a midfield berth and Hurzeler could pair him with Carlos Baleba while using Pascal Gross as a No.10.

But he might prefer to accommodate both Gross and Georginio Rutter in a bid to find a way through a low block.

Diego Gomez was a doubt going into the Friday training session but Brajan Gruda is available.

Igor Julio, back from loan at West Ham, is a contender for the bench.

Possible Albion XI: Verbruggen; Veltman, van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu; Baleba, Gross; Gruda, Rutter, Mitoma; Welbeck.
