Crystal Palace reach agreement for permanent signing – Now face new problem

Over the past two weeks, Crystal Palace have been chasing Angers SCO’s Sidiki Chérif.

Last weekend, L’Equipe stated the Eagles are accelerating their efforts to sign the striker in the winter market.

Since then, he picked up an injury in his side’s goalless draw against Paris FC while other clubs have entered the race. The latest claims from France and Turkey have mentioned Fenerbahçe challenging Crystal Palace.

On Friday, TRT Spor journalist Doruk Tecimer reported Fulham have joined Crystal Palace and Fenerbahçe.

Later day that, L’Equipe indicated a move to Selhurst Park before Monday’s deadline is a possibility. Meanwhile, the 19-year-old has recovered from the knock he picked up last weekend.

RMC Sport now have a report on the battle between Oliver Glasner’s side and the Turkish club for Chérif’s signature.

According to them, Crystal Palace have reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 side to sign him permanently for €25m plus a percentage on a future sale. Angers are still not giving up mainly because of the player.

Despite Angers’ agreement with the Premier League side, the player only wants to join Fenerbahçe. The two parties have found an agreement for his personal terms until 2030.

The Istanbul club need to strike an agreement with Angers to conclude this deal and made an initial offer.

RMC Sport haven’t provided the details of their proposal and Angers have turned it down. The latter aren’t pleased with the payment terms proposed, and Fenerbahçe are set to return with a new proposal.

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to add that Crystal Palace are trying to sign him. However, Chérif favours a move to Istanbul and is hoping to join them.

Angers, for their part, want Fenerbahçe to match the terms offered by Crystal Palace. The journalist claims this is ‘straining and complicating negotiations between the parties.’

French journalist Marc Mechenoua also took to X to report the negotiations between Angers and Fenerbahçe are progressing well. There’s optimism of reaching an agreement for €25m including bonuses before the end of this day.

This won’t please Crystal Palace despite finding an agreement with the French club.
