VfL Wolfsburg’s Mohamed Amoura has emerged as a new target for Leeds United in the winter market.
That’s at least what journalist Nabil Djellit is reporting. He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to cover a short update on Leeds United.
According to him, Daniel Farke’s side are keen on signing the 25-year-old and this has been an ‘ongoing matter for some time’.
The journalist insists Leeds United have ‘very little’ chance of bringing him to Elland Road before Monday’s deadline. He hasn’t provided any explanation as to why the Whites can’t acquire Amoura’s signature.
Djellit claims the former Brighton & Hove Albion man is likely to continue at Wolfsburg unless there’s a late twist.
Towards the end of last summer, the same journalist reported Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest in the Algeria international. Wolves are no longer in the picture, but Leeds United have been after the striker for some time.
Meanwhile, the Bundesliga side suffered a 1-0 defeat to 1. FC Köln on Friday. Wolfsburg manager Daniel Bauer dropped the Leeds United target from the squad.
Sport1 claim this was for ‘disciplinary reasons’ and also relay Bauer’s comments on his decision to drop Amoura.
“We’ve already made it public. The team, the ‘we,’ comes first. Mohamed hasn’t fully embraced that this week. That’s why we have to be consistent. That’s why he’s not with us today,” he said.
“We’ll sort that out internally. We’ve already discussed it internally. He’ll be back in full force in training on Monday and will be ready to step up again.”
Farke has Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Lukas Nmecha and Joël Piroe as the three strikers at his disposal. The latter is yet to score for the Whites this season and has been linked with a move away from Elland Road.
