Nottingham Forest are said to have agreed a transfer deal with Manchester City ahead of Monday’s deadline.

The Reds have been eyeing a goalkeeper during the January transfer window and they are now understood to have struck an agreement with City over Stefan Ortega.

Sky Sports News report the fee could reach £500,000 for the German, who is out of contract at the Etihad Stadium in the summer.

Ortega is now expected to complete a medical and put pen to paper on a short-term deal at the City Ground.

Napoli loanee Lorenzo Lucca is currently the Reds’ only signing so far this month.

Asked if he expects a busy few days on the transfer front before deadline day, boss Sean Dyche said this week: “We’ll see. I’ve said all along, the owner has made it clear he will support the club. But they are a trading club - I saw that from the outside and everyone knows that.

“It depends what’s available. People could possibly go out, but more likely we are looking for people to come in.

“It depends. It is not easy, I have said that all along - and that’s not a comment I throw around lightly. These transfer windows are really difficult, and January is probably the most difficult of all.

“But we are active in certain situations. We will see if we can get them over the line.”
