Another Manchester United outcast could end up playing in Serie A.

So far Scott McTominey (whose departure was mourned by many United fans) and Rasmus Hojlund (whose wasn’t) are at Napoli, challenging again for the league title, albeit sitting currently nine points behind leaders Inter Milan.

Onana arrived at United from Inter, where he had cultivated an impressive reputation, one which was not upheld in Manchester. Although he is only out on loan, it appears to be accepted on both sides that he will not play for United again, despite a contract that runs until June 2028, and while it is unlikely that any English club would come in for him, his stock in Italy remains high.

As such, Caught Offside is just one of the outlets reporting that Serie A clubs are having a sniff around at the moment, and considering making a move for Onana, although Trabzonspor are allegedly keen to keep hold of him.

A return to Inter is one of the options that could be on the table, but Napoli, Roma and Juventus could all come calling, according to sources in Italy. Onana moved to United for £43.8m (€50m) in July 2023, and played 102 times for the club. Given his record there, and the impressive start to life shown by his replacement, the 23-year-old Senne Lammens, it’s likely United would accept a much lower price than that very quickly if someone were to come knocking.
