Senne Lammens sets sights on replicating 'best' game since joining Man Utd ahead of Fulham clash

Senne Lammens has been reflecting on the ‘best’ game he has played in since signing for Manchester United five months ago, calling on his teammates to raise their standards at Old Trafford for the remainder of the season and beyond.

There are multiple contenders for Manchester United’s best signing in 2025, with Bryan Mbeumo emerging as the team’s top scorer and Matheus Cunha showing signs that he has what it takes to be a star at the biggest club in the Premier League.

Senne Lammens deserves acknowledgement, too. The 23-year-old has been a huge improvement on Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir as United’s first-choice goalkeeper.

The Belgian stopper joined United on transfer deadline day in the summer, in a deal worth approximately £18.2 million from Royal Antwerp.

Is Senne Lammens actually Manchester United’s best signing of the season?

Lammens earned his first senior cap for Belgium in November 2025, where he kept a clean sheet in a comfortable 7-0 win over Liechtenstein.

If Lammens continues his high level of performance for United, he may one day push Thibaut Courtois as Belgium’s first-choice keeper.

Lammens has hit the ground running at United.

It helps that he is a cool presence between the sticks, drawing early comparisons to the legendary Dutch goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

Van der Sar signed for United towards the end of his career, but played under Sir Alex Ferguson between 2005 and 2011.

However, Van der Sar isn’t the only iconic keeper from United’s history that Lammens could take influence from.

Lammens is still adapting to the Premier League but has admitted the atmosphere during United’s 2-0 win over rivals Man City was the best he has experienced in his career.

It was one of Lammens’ three clean sheets since his debut, following strong displays against Sunderland and Newcastle.

“Yeah [the atmosphere was the best],” Lammens told club media, as per ManUtd.com.

“I think it has to be one of the best, if not the best games I’ve been part of, just in every facet.

“Like defending, attacking, the amount of chances we created, not giving away any chances.

“I thought it was really something that Saturday, so we hope we can do it like almost every home game, to be honest.”

Senne Lammens reflects on ‘hostile’ trip to Leeds

Another big game in recent memory saw United draw 1-1 against Leeds at Elland Road.

It’s one of the fiercest rivalries in football, but Ruben Amorim’s sacking dominated the headlines after the match.

The trip to Leeds provided lessons for Lammens, due to the rivalry between the clubs.

He added: “It was quite hostile [at Leeds], to be honest,” he said. “So it was also a special game, just too bad we couldn’t come away with the three points.

“It was a really nice game to play in and good experience for me, as well, to get into those games.

“I think, if you can get your performance in and just stay the same way as you did, like playing at home, I think it’s a good lesson to learn as a young goalkeeper. And, if you know you can do it, then you can do it almost everywhere.

“So, yeah, it’s nice to know as well.”
