Looking at these Premier League fixtures on Saturday, in this latest round of matches.
Seeing the other games from a Newcastle United perspective.
Eddie Howe and his players not playing until 8pm tonight, away against Liverpool at Anfield.
Ahead of that, four other Premier League fixtures today.
As a Newcastle United fan, have a look at these other four Premier League fixtures today and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is most likely in terms of results.
Before that though, lets have a quick look at the table before any of these Premier League fixtures are played this weekend.
Premier League table on morning of Saturday 31 January 2026
My conclusions and predictions on Saturday’s matches
Brighton v Everton (3pm)
I think Brighton are one of those teams where you kind of just assume they are doing well. Then you look and see they have only won one of their last ten Premier League matches.
Conversely, you kind of have it in your head that Everton are struggling, then you look and they have only lost one of their last six and this run includes wins away at Forest and Villa.
Moyes is doing a decent job and Everton are three points above Brighton currently. I think at the very least Everton will get a point here and a draw is most likely in my opinion.
Maybe we should want Brighton to win as Everton are currently on the same number of points as Newcastle. However, I think the truth is that if United are to have real hopes of finishing in a top five spot and qualify for the Champions League, NUFC will have to for sure be finishing a fair way ahead of these two clubs.
Leeds v Arsenal (3pm)
Arsenal looked set to walk away with the league, a latest run of five wins in a row ensuring they were well clear. Then they have drawn 0-0 home to Liverpool, the same score at Forest, before losing at home to Man U.
Meanwhile, Leeds have lost only one of their last ten PL matches, which was after they led three times at St James’ Park, only for Eddie Howe’s side to show such character and win that 4-3 thriller!
Leeds have become very difficult to beat and based on those recent formlines you have to fancy them to get a point against a faltering Arsenal side.
Wolves v Bournemouth (3pm)
After 11 Premier League defeats in a row, Wolves suddenly went unbeaten in four, only to lose 2-0 away at Man City last time out. They had already started to play better late on in that losing run and playing with more freedom as relegation became all but a certainty.
Bournemouth were on a run of no wins in 11 PL games before in the last three defeating Spurs and Liverpool at home, with in between that a draw at Brighton when they’d led until very late in the match.
I think any result is possible here and both teams will be going for the win, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a high scoring game and quite possible a 2-2 or 3-3 draw.
Chelsea v West Ham (5.30pm)
With no wins in 11, West Ham were looking relegation certainties. However, they have found a bit of desire and form, winning away at Spurs and hammering Sunderland in their last two PL games.
They face a Chelsea side who had won only one of nine PL matches before winning at home to Brentford and away at Palace. They were very lucky against Brentford and Palace in a mess at the moment.
Everybody no doubt will be seeing this as straightforward Chelsea home win but here’s hoping West Ham can continue that new found determination and get something.
I suppose you have to accept the most likely result is that Chelsea win today but the Hammers could get a point maybe, if finding a goal and defending like they have done in those recent games, conceding just one in each of the last two PL matches.
Liverpool v Newcastle (8pm)
The only match that really matters this weekend. Can Newcastle United end 30+ years of hurt when visiting Anfield? Maybe, just maybe, this time…
Liverpool have lost at Anfield to Man U, PSV, Forest and Palace this season. Plus they lost 3-2 away at Bournemouth in their last Premier League match and their last two PL home games have been 0-0 against Leeds and 1-1 when Burnley visited.
