Sevilla are working to sign goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos on a permanent basis from Newcastle United.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo. The newspaper cover the goalkeeper today and Sevilla’s plans to get him permanently from Newcastle.
They report that director of football Antonio Cordón is laying the groundwork to ensure the continued presence of two key players at the club, Vlachodimos and Batista Mendy. Both are on loan, but the Spanish side want to keep them permanently.
The Newcastle goalkeeper is seen as more complicated to get than the midfielder. He’s been their best player this season and that’s attracted numerous suitors. The feeling is that the Magpies will try to sell him to the highest bidder.
Sevilla are hoping that the Greek international will push to stay and ‘conversations have already taken place’ with the player. He is ‘very willing to do his part’ having found the stability and affection he needed at the club.
In this regard, Sevilla are ‘pampering him’ to make him feel completely supported. This includes initiatives such as a recent one on social media that was a post full of messages from fans praising him.
There’s still a long way to go to get the deal done. And Newcastle will certainly have something to say as they eye up a sale. But Sevilla are working and pulling out all the stops to get their man permanently.
