Marcus Rashford is one of the best players to come from Manchester United’s famed academy this century.
This was the reason it was so shocking when Ruben Amorim pushed him out of the club last season.
Marcus Rashford has since spent time at Aston Villa on loan, and now at Barcelona on loan, where he has been enjoying a brilliant campaign with nine goals and 12 assists already.
Manchester United have had to watch enviously as Rashford has been back at his best, making the £26m buy option held by Barcelona look cheap.
Rashford has shone in the Champions League and league for the Catalan side, yet despite his success and the cheap fee, there is still a doubt over whether they will sign him.
This gives United the chance to switch lanes.

Michael Carrick wants Marcus Rashford return
Amorim had meant Rashford had no way back at United, with Wayne Rooney even urging him to leave the club.
However, with Amorim gone, there has always been the question of what if Barcelona doesn’t buy him, would United take the 28-year-old back?

Now, according to The Telegraph, there is a chance that United perform a U-turn.
This is because current interim head coach Michael Carrick would be keen on welcoming back Rashford to the club, in the event he becomes the permanent head coach.
Carrick played with Rashford and also coached him at United, so would be keen for a return, surely believing he can extract the best from him.
Carrick labelled Rashford’s rise a ‘fairytale’ and while he would be a huge addition, there are a lot of hurdles to this deal.
Rashford would likely have to agree to reduced terms, similar to what he would agree at Barcelona, but even then the move might not be a good idea for him or the club.
Currently enjoying living in Spain, we can’t imagine he would return, even for Carrick.

Manchester United need to move on from Rashford
Chances are, this will become a hot topic in the coming months if Carrick’s chances of being made permanent continue to skyrocket.
However, even if Carrick is appointed, Ineos need to put their feet down and not make efforts to keep Rashford.
Club and player need to move on and returning will only lead to the same issues presenting themselves again.
United can do better, with younger talents and players who want to be at the club and will fight to represent United, unlike Rashford.
Carrick will only have one vote, and Ineos must make the decision best for the club, not for one manager.
