Jack Hinshelwood was a surprise absentee for Brighton against Everton.
Not for the first time this season, a key player was unexpectedly absent from Albion’s matchday squad.
Asked for an explanation about Hinshelwood, 20, Fabian Hurzeler said: “He was ill.”
The German was speaking after watching his side concede a last gasp goal for the second consecutive week.

After losing late on at Fulham, Albion dropped two more points – after Beto’s 97th minute strike, at the Amex, on Saturday (January 31).
They had taken a second-half lead through Pascal Gross – after substitute Charalampos Kostoulas’ clever dummy from Yasin Ayari’s cross.
Summing up his thoughts on the match, Hurzeler, 32, said: “I think we showed another good performance in the end. I said before the game we have to manage the key moments better and I think in one moment we weren't alive, we didn't manage it well and this cost us the game.
"Therefore, we have to analyse it. I know that in football it's about results but I think the key thing is that we are there, we are close, we are getting where we want and just the key bits are the most important in football that you really defend until the end of the game, that you manage the game well until the end of the game and therefore we weren't able to do this in this game.
"It feels painful but we will overcome this phase and we will go again.”
