Tottenham held preliminary talks with Liverpool last week over a potential deal for Andy Robertson, who is out of contract in the summer. The Scot is understood to want more game time ahead of this summer’s World Cup, though the deal is now unlikely to go ahead unless the Reds find an adequate replacement. Injuries to full-backs Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong mean they are now reluctant to let go of Robertson.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown but face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal.
Spurs beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 in the Champions League in midweek, and Nathaniel Brown was a part of the German side. He started the game and played 72 minutes. The report adds that Manchester United sent scouts to watch the left-back in action against Spurs, and are now carrying out detailed checks on him.
Contracted at Deutsche Park until 2030, Frankfurt value the 22-year-old over £40million. Ideally, Tottenham could face competition from Manchester United for Brown’s signature. The Red Devils want to strengthen their left-back options and scouted Brown in midweek in the Champions League.

For Spurs, signing the Frankfurt man should be an obvious decision. A left-back by trade, the Germany international can also operate as a wing-back and as a left-winger, and such versatility would add so much value to Thomas Frank’s squad. He is 22 and clearly has his best years ahead of him and, if utilised correctly, could address a key area of the pitch for the Lilywhites.
Brown would be a solid option to cover and compete with Destiny Udogie, who has been in and out of the side due to injury problems over the last two years. As Man United could knock on Frankfurt’s door for the German defender, Spurs must quickly look to wrap up a deal if Frank has concrete in him.
