Opinion: David Moyes may have all but confirmed Everton exit after what he did vs Brighton

Everton will be riding the high of Beto’s late equaliser against Brighton & Hove Albion into the final days of the transfer window.

The clock is ticking down on David Moyes and his recruitment staff ahead of the Monday evening deadline.

More than four weeks into the window and, still, Everton have not been able to do any business.

There were some surprising decisions made in Moyes’ team selection, with Vitaliy Mykolenko missing due to a new injury issue.

The Ukraine international’s absence saw Jarrad Branthwaite make his very first start of the season.

However, there was no spot in the side for summer signing Adam Aznou, who missed out on the squad altogether.

David Moyes all but confirms Adam Aznou’s Everton future

During his pre-Brighton press conference, Moyes admitted Aznou could leave Everton before the deadline strikes on Monday.

Although Aznou has barely played for Everton this season, it was a shock to see him missing from the squad, and it may be a big sign ahead of Monday.

Seamus Coleman has urged Aznou to remain patient, but it does now feel as if he is not going to get many opportunities this season under Moyes.

Mykolenko’s injury offered the perfect opportunity for Aznou to start and he has instead found himself completely out of the squad.

Moyes’ defence against Brighton consisted of four centre-backs in a damning statement over how he views the likes of Aznou and Nathan Patterson.

Aznou simply must leave Everton on loan

After his performance against Sunderland, Aznou had the backing of a lot of Everton fans for what could be to come from him.

Even James Garner wanted to see Aznou handed more opportunities on the back of that cameo display in the FA Cup.

Instead, his chances have taken a step backwards.

Moyes’ stance could not have been made any clearer with his team selection on Saturday, with Aznou surely needing to leave to play any football before the summer.

The youngster has already wasted half a season on the Everton bench; he needs to be playing to continue his development.
